Dr. Teresa Boughen is a 1982 graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (W.C.V.M.). She joined Associate Veterinary Clinics in 1983 and has been working full-time at the Hunterhorn Veterinary Clinic since it was opened in 1988. She is keenly interested in providing dog and cat owners with knowledge on how to best care for their canine and feline family members. Dr. Boughen has a special interest in dermatology, cytology and soft tissue surgery.
Since October of 2003, Dr. Boughen has owned a lovely American Shorthair cat named Spirit who came from another veterinarian. Spirit had a kidney condition, which required monitoring, and it was felt that Spirit would be happier in a one-cat household. Spirit does however have to share her home with Lena the dog. Lena is a mixed breed, adopted as a puppy from Misty Creek Dog Rescue, in May of 2010.
Dr. Boughen and Lena have completed obedience classes at Pawsitively Pooched and the Calgary Humane Society. As well, they have been busy with agility training at the Calgary Humane Society, and with It’s a Dog’s World and Sit Happens! Lena is also learning to do scent hurdle racing with the Scentability Scent Hurdle team.
Dr. Boughen’s previous dog, Meg, was lost to cancer at 12 years 8 months, and was filmed at 11 years old having her teeth brushed and nails trimmed. She is still featured in our website video section.
